Today we see the third stage of the tour de France coming to Essex, the stage starts in Cambridge with the route snaking through Essex and then on to London for the finish. It looks like the weather will be fine and dry and so hydration will be of paramount importance for both cyclists and spectators alike!
Many of the local roads around Braintree will be closed and so if you are planning to travel today, you might want to check out the Tour De France Essex website to make sure that your route isn’t affected, but be aware that there may well still be some delays.
If you are lucky enough to live or work along the route then it is an opportunity not to be missed as hosting the tour isn’t something that is likely to happen on a regular basis, so get out there and support the riders. Yorkshire were fabulous hosts over the weekend and we saw two exciting stages, particularly the second stage.
After the disappointment of Cavendish having to retire from the race, all hope for British riders isn’t lost as the reigning champion Chris Froome is in a good position after the second stage. It would be great to see a British rider take today’s stage so come on all you Essex people, there are plenty of places throughout Essex to cheer them on.
